A Video Game Case depicting the Video Game Title Halo as a Lego Xbox 360 game.

PROJECT-HAGGAR

Samuel Webb

For those of you who haven't heard about this project. The diligent thing to do would be direct you to this video created by 'PtoPOnline' that explains everything. Project HAGGAR was the second push for a Halo building game. The first reference being "Lego Halo- The Original Trilogy" in April 2008, way before the Halo mega Bloks franchise.

In 2009 Mega Blok's Halo line was released and after 4 years of a very warm reception, in January of 2013, 343 started work with N-Space on creating a Halo Mega Bloks game. Yes, Building, Shooting, Driving, Flying, Puzzles, Everything!

The Project was developed by N space until November of 2013. The Video Link at the bottom will direct you to see what the November 2013 build looked like. This is the part I am not excited to announce, 343 Industries Axed the game after the prototype was developed.

The head of 343 Industries, Bonnie Ross went on to announce, "Over the past few days, footage has recently made the rounds of an exploratory Xbox 360 project we worked on several years ago, known as “Haggar.” Since then, we’ve received a lot of great feedback from the community. Haggar was something we prototyped with our friends at Mega Bloks that focused on the elements of action, exploration and user creativity found within the Halo universe. Haggar had a lot of fun ideas and invention behind it, but ultimately didn’t progress beyond the early prototyping levels that are shown in the recent video. This is just one example of several similar projects we have evaluated throughout the years – a process that we continue exploring on an ongoing basis."

Looking at trends from Microsoft as a whole, one viewpoint is that when the Xbox series X was released, and HAGGAR having Xbox 360 support only, Microsoft wasn't ready to commit and invest in progressing the title. Another Viewpoint is that 343 Industries thought the game was too "out there" for the base halo fans.

Bonnie had this to say in an interview, " 343 doesn't have any plans to expand the market, worrying about alienating the core halo audience....I will say that when we first started the franchise, the thought of doing a like Lego halo game was not something that out core halo fans found interesting, whereas now we are getting requests for that"

N Space studios has since shut down and I assume the game along with it. Does this mean we will never have Halo Mega Bloks the game..? Unless we make a push I do believe it will mean that. It has been 7 years since the Hype over the game.
